Primary 1 is the youngest students at Open Door School. Primary 1 consists of students in kindergarten through second grade. We teach daily living skills in a warm and welcoming environment, which makes the students feel safe and secure. The lessons we teach are differentiated based on each of the student’s needs. Based on the variety of IEP’s, we use different strategies to help the students learn new information. This means we also take the time to understand each child’s individual disabilities and their strengths.
In the classroom we have a reading area, sensory corner, computer and carpet time area. We work with the students in whole group, small group and one on one throughout the daily schedule. Our goal in Primary 1 is to find each child’s strengths and abilities which will help them grow and have a successful education. [email protected]
