Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities has been accredited by the State of Ohio for the quality services and supports it provides to people with developmental disabilities in Lawrence County.
A comprehensive review of the county board was conducted in May of this year by the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD). A team of surveyors from DODD reviewed all areas of the agency’s operations, including personnel administration, services and support, early intervention, major unusual incidents, and other indicators of general efficiency and effectiveness of the county board in the community it serves.
The results of the review found that LCDD achieved substantial compliance and subsequently obtained a 3-year period of accreditation. Tim Nunnery, Director of Communications and Resource Development says the full accreditation is a positive turnaround from the agency’s previous review.
“During our last review we received a one-year term and we’ve made substantial changes to our standards since then and the three-year term is a testament of those standards being raised” says Nunnery. “We’re proud of our staff and our agency for buying into a rejuvenated belief system we’ve implemented into our programs.”
Nunnery says the changes were noticed by the team of surveyors during the review, stating that LCDD was commended for being on the right track in providing quality services to people in Lawrence County.
County boards are given approximately 2 months of advance notice to prepare for the accreditation review, which requires many staff hours and a great deal of coordination between programs and departments. Despite the advance notice, most of the areas reviewed require the standards to be maintained by the county board throughout the term.
