Intake & Eligibility

Who can get DD services?

Birth to 6
 
An infant or toddler younger than 6 years is eligible for services from Lawrence County DD if he or she has developmental delays in one of the following areas:
 
• Self-help skills
 • Physical development skills (fine gross and motor skills)
 • Language, speech, hearing or communication skills
 • Cognitive skills
 • Social/emotional development
 
An infant or toddler up to age 3 may also be eligible if he or she is at risk of a developmental delay due to certain factors. 
 
Please call the LCDD Early Intervention (EI) Program at (740) 532-0406 to see if your child is eligible. They will direct you to services appropriate for your child.
 
Ages 6 and older

 Be a resident of Lawrence County
Have a diagnosed developmental disability that occurred before the age of 22
Have substantial functional limitations in three of the following life skill areas:
 
• Mobility
• Receptive & Expressive Language
• Capacity for Independent Living
• Self-Care
• Self-Direction
• Learning
• Economic Self-Sufficiency (at age 16)
 
Life skills are assessed using the Children’s Ohio Eligibility Determination Instrument (COEDI) for ages 6 to 15, and the Ohio Eligibility Determination Instrument (OEDI) for individuals age 16 and older.
