Open Door School

The Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities offers a School Age Program for students with disabilities that reside in Lawrence County.  Open Door School is in a consortium with the seven local school districts in the county.  We serve students ages 5-22 in Primary to Vocational level classes.  The school offers the Unique Curriculum that is aligned with the Ohio’s Extended Content Standards.  

We offer a variety of programs to all of our students. Some of the programs that are offered:

• Speech services
• Adaptive PE services
• Physical and Occupational therapies
• Athletic Teams such as Basketball, Volleyball, Cheerleading, bowling, swimming, and Archery 
• Bell Choir
• Transition to Work in our community
•  Hands on Vocational opportunities such as raising chickens and working in a greenhouse
•  Self-Advocacy Program
•  Science/Social Studies Fair
•  Spelling Bee
•  Special Olympics
•   Daily Living Skills which includes running the Jet Café once they are in Vocational 2
•  Banking skills
•  Social skills
•  Educational Field trips

These are just a few of the programs that the school offers to the students and their families.
